Did you know Nelson Mandela had such a big heart for children and youth that he chose to celebrate his birthday with children?

The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund (the Fund) has preserved this day to honour his legacy.

This year, a fun walk with children and youth has been organised with our underwriting sponsor Nedbank.

We want to walk the extra mile, so vulnerable children do not have to.

18 July is a birthday of the late former President Nelson R. Mandela, founder of Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and its sister organisations.

Mandela Day is a call to action for every individual, group, corporate, to take responsibility for making the world a better place, one step at a time, in response to areas of need within their communities and guided by means at their disposal.

National Children's Theatre to Perform at Fun Walk

We are delighted to have the talented team from the National Children's Theatre perform at our Fun Walk on 16 July.

They will be performing "Under The Baobab Tree" which is filled with exciting stories, vibrant songs ranging from Pata Pata to Waka Waka and Jerusalema, pulsating rhythms with African drums and lively dance. This charming SA production enthralls and educates children and the young at heart with some valuable lessons about friendship, UBUNTU and the rich diversity of South African cultures, while having fun."

The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital

The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital (NMCH) is a dedicated paediatric facility serving the children of Southern Africa. What this hospital does is centered on giving children the one thing they need the most: the ability to just be children.

This #MandelaMonth you can donate directly to our hospital.
Tag us @_nmch_ on social media and use the hashtag: #ServeLikeMandela

From large corporations like Imperial Health to smaller businesses like the women from TheWoolie, South Africans have come together to support Johannesburg’s only specialised paediatric hospital. Now we need your support.

Such efforts help ensure uninterrupted care at NMCH, which relies on the support of individuals and organisations who are committed to making a difference in our communities.

Here are a few ways in which you can give to NMCH:
Donate new clothes, pyjamas and nappies
Donate to our Welcome packs
Sponsor toys'
Donate Toys for the Rehabilitation Unit
Purchase the NMCH e-book
Monetary donations
