On behalf of Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, I wish to express condolences to the Sisulu family on the passing of their family member Mlungisi Sisulu.
More than being son to long time friend and fellow struggle stalwart to our Founder Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Lungi as we had fondly known him, would not miss to add his counselling but supportive voice and weight to causes geared at public good.
His was a voice that was loud and clear in support for a cause, in the early consultative days, for the establishment of Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.
Of the many fellow travellers the Children’s Fund has amassed in the journey for this cause geared at changing the face of specialist care for children, Lungi was part of the procession of this legacy project.
May the Sisulu family take comfort in the thought that their loss is shared by many.
Chief Executive Office
We the children and young people from all nine provinces of South Africa have, in this 5th’ NELSON MANDELA CHILDREN`S PARLIAMENT on “Claiming our Rights to Safety and Protection”, through much discussion and debate learned many things about the conditions and circumstances of children and young people in our country.
We acknowledge the much work that our government has done through legislations to protect children as well as increasing access to services. However we believe that more still needs to be done and we Children, Government, Civil Society and Private Sector all have a role to play in shaping our country for the better.
Through much debate, discussions and resolutions our resolutions for this 2015 parliament are as follows;
