Nelson Mandela Children’s Parliament Impact Evaluation

A Call for previous Child Parliamentarians to participate in the Survey & Focus Group Discussions

The Nelson Mandela Children’s Parliament (NMCP) is a national child participation platform for South African children between 12 and 17 years where their voices and concerns are heard directly by duty bearers and decision makers.  It is a platform created for South African children to influence policies as well as programmes, projects and strategies intended to address the realisation of their rights and wellbeing. Thus far the children’s parliament was hosted by all the provincial legislatures from 2011 to 2021. There was no NMCP sitting in 2020 due to COVID 19.

Since its inception, the children’s parliament programme has not been evaluated. To address this challenge, an impact evaluation has been planned by Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund (NMCF) and its strategic partners to find out how it has impacted the lives of children. In the light of this, NMCF together with its strategic partners would like to make a special request to the children who participated in the NMCP from 2011 to 2021 to participate in the NMCP Impact Evaluation by completing a survey and participating in focus group discussions. The purpose of the survey and focus group discussions is to find out how the NMCP programme has impacted the children’s lives, what is working and what needs to be improved. The participation of previous child parliamentarians in this evaluation is valuable and will ensure that the NMCP programme is improved and responds to the needs of South African children.

If you are one of the previous NMCP parliamentarians, please click the link below and answer the questions for verification purposes.
