Introducing the Secretariat

The Youth Leadership Secretariat is a team of youths who are responsible for ensuring that the Youth Leadership Programme is run effectively and redesigned in order to reach its revised mandate. The four members of the Secretariat are: Zamajozi Sithole, Chumani Nkwinti, Bonolo Pule and Unathi Mabukane.

"A collection of young leaders and alumni across South Africa and Southern Africa who are actively involved in solving society's challenges, promoting social justice and driving positive social change. These leaders are critical thinkers and influencers who are active members and contributors to the programme and who are key to driving Africa forward"

VISION

"To become a Globally Recognised Children and Youth Leadership Programme focused on imparting Mandela's Values."
The Youth Leadership Programme has been focused on advocacy and lobbying, with an emphasis on mobilising children and youth towards driving positive social change

​The Children’s and Youth Leadership Programme currently has 5 initiatives:

  • For Kids by Kids
  • Youth Ambassadors
  • Youth Parliament

Youth Clubs: Creating a Movement
  • 10 000 Members Nationally
  • Voluntary based membership
  • through schools, churches and youth clubs
The Fund has partnered with numerous youth clubs across the country which has membership of over 10,000 youth nationally. The Fund partners with these youths to undertake activities in their respective communities.
Efeng Bacha: Youth advisory board
  • Link youth and the fund

  • By invitation
This is the youth advisory body of the Fund and is currently the most active part of the programme. These youth advisors are currently in need of guidance and programme.
For kids by kids
  • Volunteer program
  • fundraising and resource mobilisation

This programme is primarily focused on raising funds for Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital and will be moved into the Fund’s Youths Leadership Programme.
Youth Ambassadors
  • 90 ambassadors

The youth ambassadors are selected from the youth parliament and are the Fund’s representatives within their communities.

This is an annual event which engages children and youth about politics, the spheres of government and allows children and youth to lobby and advocate their issues in a safe environment.
