As we look back on 2025, our Cannes Film Festival Fundraising Gala stands out. Hosted during the Cannes Film Festival, the evening celebrated 30 years of impact and honoured lifelong champions of children’s wellbeing, while raising critical support for our work. With close to 300 guests, live performances, and powerful storytelling, the night reaffirmed that protecting children is a shared global responsibility.
We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, partners, and everyone who stood with us.

On this Day of Goodwill, we are reminded that the well-being of children is a shared responsibility. 🫶 Goodwill lives in everyday acts of care, in listening to children’s voices, and in standing together to protect their dignity, safety and future. It is found in communities that choose compassion, inclusion and action, not just today, but every day. May this spirit of goodwill guide how we show up for children, now and into the year ahead.

A key moment this year was the G20 Social Summit where children formally handed over the Children20 Declaration to President Cyril Ramaphosa, calling for digital safety, climate justice, fair trade, child protection, and meaningful youth participation. Their message echoes our belief: build a world with children, not for them.

One of this year’s highlights was the Africa Children’s Summit. Hosted in Johannesburg, the child-led Summit brought together young leaders from across Africa to speak directly about the issues shaping their futures. Children from South Africa, South Sudan, the DRC, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Ghana, Liberia, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe came together to share their realities and priorities.
In partnership with the Department of Social Development, the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund supported a platform where children led the process and shaped an Outcome Statement calling for safe schools, digital safety, inclusion, access to education and meaningful child participation across the continent.
As we close 2025, we remain committed to turning children’s voices into action.

As we reflect on 2025, one of the year’s most joyful moments was our Children’s Celebration in July. To mark Nelson Mandela’s birthday and 30 years of championing children’s rights, we came together with young people for a carnival-style celebration filled with music, laughter, creativity, and play. It was a powerful reminder that joy, dignity, and childhood itself are acts of justice.
Thank you to Nedbank for helping us create unforgettable memories for children.
