Tomorrow morning, tune in to POWER 98.7 at 9:45am as the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund’s Anzio Jacobs joins Sello Hatang for a conversation marking International Day of the Boy Child.
This year’s theme, “Flourish and Thrive: Investing in Boys for Stronger Families and Communities”, highlights the importance of creating safe, supportive environments where boys can grow into healthy, compassionate, and empowered young men.
The discussion will explore why investing in boys matters, and the role families, communities, and society play in shaping their future.

Boys deserve spaces where they can be heard, supported, protected, and empowered to grow into compassionate leaders.
This International Day of the Boy Child, we celebrate boys across South Africa and the continent, while also recognising the importance of positive mentorship, mental wellbeing, education, and safe environments where every boy has the opportunity to thrive.
Through initiatives like the Boy Joy Summit, the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund continues creating important spaces for boys and young men to have honest conversations around identity, leadership, wellbeing, and positive masculinity.
When we invest in boys, we invest in stronger communities and a more equal future.

Thank you guys 🍷
Families are often a child’s first place of love, care, protection, and belonging. ❤️
On this International Day of Families, we recognise the important role families and caregivers play in helping children grow, thrive, and feel safe.
Building a better future for children also means strengthening the families and communities around them.

Today we celebrate the nurses whose compassion, dedication, and care change lives every single day. ❤️
At the heart of every healthy child and hopeful family is often a nurse offering comfort, strength, and healing when it matters most.
We are especially grateful to the incredible nursing teams at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospitalpital and across South Africa who continue to care for children with skill, empathy, and unwavering commitment.

Happy Nurses Day to all the amazing nurses out there! You are true heroes!
This #FreedomDay, we reflect on the progress made since 1994 and the responsibility we share to keep building a more equal and just society. For us, that work starts with children. Freedom must mean safety, opportunity, and a future every child can step into with dignity.
As we mark 30 years of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, we are reminded that real freedom is measured by how we care for and invest in the next generation.

We had the honour of being hosted by the Chairperson, Dr Naledi Pandor and CEO, Dr Mbongiseni Buthelezi, of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Together with the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund’s Chairperson, Mr Mpho Makwana; Deputy Chairperson, Mr Rorisang Tshabalala; and CEO, Dr Linda Ncube-Nkomo, the conversation focused on how we can work more closely together, align our efforts, and strengthen collaboration to carry Madiba’s legacy forward in a way that continues to make a real difference.

Wonderful indeed.
We were honoured to welcome Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela and Nkosikazi Nosekeni Rabia Clarke-Mandela for a special visit with the Fund’s Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson. 😊
As Madiba’s grandson, Nkosi Zwelivelile carries the responsibility of leading the Royal House of Mandela and focusing on the needs of children in Mvezo (his birth place) and Qunu (his family home). The conversation centred on shared priorities for children and how we can continue to strengthen impact where it matters most.
These engagements form part of an ongoing series of engaging critical stakeholders to our work and the legacy of our Founder’s love for children and his vision to change how society treats them.

Very humble
💬 “We started small, but today we are able to provide for our families.” These are the voices at the heart of "Ukonga Among Women in Rural Spaces", a book launched by the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.
The book tells the story of women in Eshowe who, through self-help groups, have moved from financial insecurity to sustainable livelihoods, supporting their families, paying school fees, and building stronger futures for their children.
What began as collective saving and shared effort has grown into income-generating initiatives, from farming to small trading enterprises, proving the power of collaboration and community-led development.
This book goes beyond research, telling the stories of women through lived experience, evidence, and a call to invest in women as the architects behind resilient communities.
