✊🏾 Today, we honour the courage and resilience of the women who shaped South Africa's history, including the more than 20,000 women who marched to the Union Buildings in 1956 to stand against injustice and fight for equality. Seventy years later, their legacy continues to inspire action towards a more equal society.
At the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, we recognise that empowering women is central to building stronger communities and creating better futures for children. Through our programmes, we work alongside families and communities to support women's empowerment, strengthen livelihoods, protect children and create opportunities for young people to thrive.
As we commemorate Women's Day under the theme "Empowered Women Empower The Nation," we celebrate the women who lead, nurture and transform their communities every day.

Today, the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund handed ovFord Ford vehicle to Makobetsa Poultry Farm in Thaba Nchu, Free State, one of the Fund's implementing partners under the Sustainable Livelihoods Programme.
Specially fitted with an egg transportation compartment, the vehicle will make it easier and more efficient to transport eggs to market, helping the farm strengthen its operations, grow its business and improve its long-term sustainability.

🤱 As we mark World Breastfeeding Week, we join the global call to champion breastfeeding as the foundation for healthier children, stronger families and thriving communities.
This year's theme, "Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works," reflects the work of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, which supports mothers, families and children during the critical first 1,000 days of life.
Working alongside community healthcare workers, clinics and implementing partners, we help strengthen maternal and child health, promote good nutrition, and ensure families have the support they need to give every child the best possible start.

As part of the Sasol For Good Mandela 67 Minutes initiative, Sasol handed over a R1 million donation to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospitalpital, the flagship project of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, reaffirming a shared commitment to improving the lives of children who need specialised healthcare.
The visit included the ceremonial cheque handover, the donation of care packs, and time spent with young patients and their families, bringing comfort and hope beyond the hospital wards.

The leadership of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, including our Board Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, CEO and CFO, recently had the privilege of meeting with Mme Shirley Mabusela, former Trustee of the Fund and a respected child rights activist.
Drawing on her years of experience, Mme Mabusela shared valuable insights on advancing and protecting children's rights. She also expressed deep concern about the continued escalation of violence against children in South Africa, reminding us that safeguarding children requires urgent, collective action.

The Ford South Africa team in Tshwane rolled up their sleeves for Make Mandela Bear Magic, with a record of 250 employees coming together to make Mandela Bears for children receiving treatment at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospitalpital.
