The passing of Justice Yvonne Mokgoro, former Chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, is a tremendous loss not only to the Fund but to our society. Her unwavering dedication to the cause of children’s rights in South Africa was truly inspiring and will always be remembered.
She led the Fund through a time of enormous growth and change, consolidating our aims and objectives, building stronger ties with donors, partners, and stakeholders, and inspiring us with unshakeable energy and passion.
Amidst the storm of the COVID-19 pandemic, Justice Mokgoro steered the Fund with unwavering resilience and determination. She refused to let the challenges it posed hinder our progress, leading us with her invaluable guidance and grace.
Her legacy will endure, inspiring us to continue working towards creating a brighter future for all children in South Africa.
We mourn with Justice Mokgoro’s family, friends, and colleagues, offering our deepest condolences during this challenging time. In her memory, we pledge to continue our mission of creating a brighter future for all children in South Africa. Her legacy and the profound impact she made on our society will always be remembered. #RIPJusticeMokgoro

As South Africa 🇿🇦 reflects on 30 Years of Democracy today, we should also ask: Have we done enough for every child to lead a life free of poverty?
Every child deserves adequate nutrition, access to education and health, and a warm and healthy home.
Looking ahead to the next thirty years, we should collaborate more closely to uplift children’s lives. #FreedomDay2024 | #Freedom30
